World Book Day 2022

It’s the 25th anniversary of World Book Day! Here’s my poem for this year.

YOU ARE A READER!

 Once upon a time the ancients carved their tales in stone

Nowadays there’s kindle or an app upon your phone 

Book yourself some book time, but be sure to make it known ­– 

That...YOU...ARE...A READER!

Whether you like comics, or non-fiction, or a laugh

Whether you’re in bed, at school, or sitting in the bath

Whether it’s got pictures or the author’s autograph –      

YOU...ARE...A READER!

Maybe you wear glasses, or a special font is best

Books in braille are brilliant – the pages are IMPRESSED!

Audio is awesome – is it reading? Take a guess –

YES! YOU... ARE...A READER!

Whether you like fantasy or mysteries or crime

Whether you like magazines or poetry and rhyme

Whether you read speedily or like to take your time

YOU...ARE...A READER!

Read the lyrics video to every YouTube song

Read a tiny haiku or a series that is looooooooong

Now you’ve read this poem, so you really can’t go wrong –

Look...YOU...ARE...A READER!
