NaPoWriMo Day 8

Today’s poem was loosely based off the Poetry Society prompt about choosing a personal palette and incorporating three colours into your writing, but I wanted to stick to one colour (if a lot of different shades), and it seemed about time to write an Easter-themed poem. What else could it be but yellow?

Golden Easter

Daffodils and bumblebees

Brimstones dancing on the breeze

Celandines like shining suns

Butter spread on hot cross buns

Fuzzy chicks atop a bonnet

Saffron ribbons trailing from it

Catkins waving on the bough

Chocolate bunnies (wrapped for now)

Fragile eggshells, blown and dyed

Primrose posies brought inside

Marzipan on simnel cake

Kingcups blooming by the lake

Dandelions in the grass

Morning light through church stained glass

Resurrected every year –

Golden, glowing – Easter’s here!
