I wrote off-prompt today, using a Hungarian saying I’d seen on Twitter and using that as the jumping-off point.

No More Tears*

Why are you giving such drinks to the mice?

How many boats have set sail on that tide?

Do the flamingos like having wet knees?

How large was the snowman that died?

Who left the taps on and flooded the floor?

Are you setting up home with a shark?

When did the dam break – do we need to run?

Should I be building an ark?

Will you stop if I fetch an umbrella?

Shall we measure it all in a jug?

Oh sweetheart, I think the boat’s leaking –

Let’s stop it all up with a hug.

*Hungarians don’t ask little children why they are crying. They instead say

miért itatod az egereket? It means ‘why are you giving drinks to the mice?’
